Nepalese cuisine refers to the cuisines of Nepal. The cultural diversity of Nepal has provided an ample space for the growth of a number of cuisines based on the ethnic groups and the geographical features of the nation. Hence, Nepalese cuisine encompasses a whole array of different cuisines rather than one single type of cuisine.

 

Kathmandu RestaurantThere is no cuisine unique to Nepal. Dal bhat (literally lentils and rice, generally served with vegetable curries) is the base of all meals. Despite the lack of variety, some dal bhats that are particularly well cooked can turn out to be surprisingly good. Momo where has its own popularity, among the people of Nepal, made up of meat or vegetable dumplings that are fried or steamed.

 

Lassi, a refreshing drink made from yogurt and water appears on almost every menu. You'll find tea mixed with milk and sugar, served steaming hot. And Nepal made beer, Tchang, made from rice or barley. Also alcohol made from rice or wheat barley called Rakshi.
